brownies always make for a sweet finish
Sweets are a must have for Cinco de Mayo…after indulging in something cheesy and yummy I have to finish it off with something sweet and its even better when there is a little kick involved. Truth be told…I also love to have a margarita or two as well, but since I can’t have alcohol right now (it doesn’t mix with pain meds evidently) I will have a double dose of brownies instead. Now these brownies are not your ordinary box brownies, or these caramel brownies or even these oreo brownies they are super fudgy with a little kick. Ok I hear ya…brownies with a kick? What kind of…

oreo + caramel + brownies = AMAZING!
Hello weekend! I don’t know about you but I am so glad that the weekend is finally here…and these brownies make me giggle with joy!! In SE Texas it has been raining all week, causing devastating floods and some serious unrest…Starbucks was even closed one day…you know its bad when they close! In all serious though some of my friends and neighbors have been hit really hard and are still being affected by the recent floods and I know your prayers would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to help those who have been affected check out this link for more information. To celebrate the weekend and no rain in…

sweet & spicy…oh so good pineapple!
It is no secret that we love to grill here in Texas. I mean c’mon we kinda live on grilled everything in the spring & summer. We will grill anything that will sit still on the grill (or not fall through the grates)….fruits such as pineapple. The obvious favorites are of course, steak (like this steakhouse steak), chicken, pork anything, veggies…but another big favorite is fruit! Yes, I said fruit. There is just something so yummy about fruits that have been charred a little…it really brings out the sweetness of the fruit while intensifying the flavor immensely. I love grilled peaches for sure but my favorite grilled fruit is pineapple. It’s so funny, I…

Vanilla & Fudge Bundt Cake
It is no secret that I love me some bundt cake. Not only do I love it but I also make it a lot. I have made a chocolate version, a salted caramel version, a butter version, even a flan version (among a few others) but none of them are as special as this vanilla & fudge bundt cake. I remember seeing this cake one time at a church pot luck many, many years ago but honestly had not thought about it until just recently. We were having a little family dinner and I wanted to make something special that I had not made before so I went searching and then…

have I mentioned I LOVE pink velvet?
Valentines is one of my most favorite holidays…it has lots of chocolate, pink, and hearts everywhere…what could be better? OK, now I know Christmas has it’s beauty as well, but there is just something so special about all the pink & red hearts and celebrating love. BTW…it is also my Mammaw’s birthday so it is a special day just for that…and it calls for these pink velvet cupcakes for sure. In my world Valentines Day is all about pink everything and these pink velvet cupcakes are AMAZING! Not only is the cupcake itself pink but I also tinted the icing making it a darker pink than the cupcake…giving it the perfect…

skinny brownies full of fudgy goodness
If you have been around Half Baked Land very much you know that brownies are a favorite for The Hubby and I both, but lets be real brownies are not the best option when you are trying to watch your waistline and what you are eating….that is until now….now we have skinny brownies. Now in my quest to find a delicious, fudgy and rich skinnier brownie I went through several versions that were not so delicious, or fudgy or rich. I found a few that were too cakey or too bland or even worse way too dry, but finally it all came together and this pan of brownies came out…

bringing crunch to the bars
I can’t believe Valentines Day is just around the corner. I just got all my Christmas down (yes, it took me a little while) and now it is time to think red & pink with hearts everywhere…but first lets talk about bars. Valentines Day has always been a special holiday for me, it is my Mammaw’s birthday! This year she will be 89 and we are making sure it is a super special day for her and these bars a favorite of hers (& mine) so they will definitely be on the birthday menu. To be honest pecan pie is her favorite but I love turning a pie into a…

you have been good…time for a brownie
We have been so good for the whole first week of 2016 and this weekend calls for a little treat…right? And a brownie sounds like the perfect treat and these brownies laced with cream cheese make them an ultimate treat for sure. Overtime I make these brownies they are gone before I can get a good pic so this last time I decided to set a few aside so after our company left I could take my pics…well that isn’t how it quite worked out. My husbands family was over playing one of their favorite card games and as they played they kept eating the brownies…everyone LOVED them! Eventually all…

cocoa a new way
I still can’t believe Christmas is later this week. I don’t know about you but I still have a ton to do and one of the things on my list is to make this fudge one more time. There is just something so special about fudge around the Holidays…and especially this cocoa inspired version. Growing-up we always had tons of treats around our house especially sweet treats, especially FUDGE! This fudge is so easy to make and it is so cute it is perfect for this Holiday season. To start with the bottom layer is a rich dark chocolate layer topped with a white chocolate fudge layer and then to make it…

a little snowball fun
No matter where you live you can have snowball fun…even with no snow. Growing up in Southeast Texas it is rare (like never) that we have enough snow to make a snowball…so this year I decided to make my own snowballs…COOKIES that is. These cookies have been a favorite of my mom’s for years but I had never made them until just recently. I was getting ready for my annual gift baskets and I knew I wanted a cookie that light & buttery with nuts and these immediately came to mind. To make them perfect I decided to search through some of my grandmother’s old cookbooks and came across…
