A sweet treat to welcome 2018
New Years Eve is here and 2018 is a mere few hours away…I still can’t believe it. In my family we have a few New Years traditions such as eating black eyed peas and watching the Rose Bowl Parade. One other tradition is something sweet to snack on and these brownies are the perfect sweet treat. All from scratch…& so worth it Don’t get me wrong I love a good boxed brownie mix but when I can I love to make brownies from scratch. Ok, Ok I know you are probably shaking your head and thinking I am crazy, but trust me it is worth it. First everything is…

Your Morning Just Got a Ton Better
So for the last several months I have been thinking about trying to make homemade cinnamon rolls. My brother and sister-in-law have been asking me to make them, but dealing with yeast scared me so I just kept putting it off. That is I put it off until Christmas morning. It is all about patience Homemade cinnamon rolls are 1000% better than the canned version, but beware you have to plan ahead. You need several hours (I started the process the night before) to let the dough proof and get ready to roll up into rolls. SO what is proofing you ask? Proofing is when you let the dough…

It’s time to celebrate…with queso
I don’t know about you but I cannot believe it is almost New Year’s. 2018 is literally just around the corner…that is just so crazy. What are your plans for New Years? Are you going out with a big group of friends? Maybe staying home with the family? Are you throwing a get together with your neighbors? Well whatever you might be doing this queso would be a great addition. A classic at home… A few months ago I was fishing at my Godparents house and their niece Shannon came down for a fishing tournament we were in. Well, little did I know, but she is my sister from…

It’s more than just a gingerbread man
This past weekend I got to watch my niece and nephew for a night and making cookies was on the menu for sure. Not too long ago I was at World Market and found this great pack of sprinkles that had a little bit of everything from cinnamon dots to metallic sprinkles and everything in between. My little helper is the BEST EVER Anytime I can get my nephew or niece into the kitchen to help it is so much fun. Wes had made gingerbread cookies at school the previous week and he wanted to show me how to do it, so I got him right up on the counter…

a dressing like no other
Are you a stuffing or dressing person? Are you a cornbread or bread dressing person? We are cornbread people here. Well I am here to tell you I have another option for all my die hard cornbread dressing friends. Trust me it is AMAZING! An apple a day… The old saying goes “an apple a day will keep the Dr away”. This delicious side may not keep the Dr away but it will make you feel VERY good. If you would have asked me a month ago if I would put apple in my dressing I would have said NO WAY, but it has changed. Our sweet friend Andrea said she wanted…

I could eat these everyday
I think if I could only eat one thing for the rest if my life it might just be mashed potatoes. I LOVE THEM that much, especially this new mashed potato recipe. Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. They are loaded with tons a flavor, they are rich and creamy. It’s a family thing My MeeMaw LOVED mashed potatoes. I mean she LOVED, LOVED them. She loved them so much she always said she wanted to be buried in them. She was not buried in them, but she did really love them. Her mashed potatoes were very classic with a little sour cream added in for a little extra something, and now I have taken…

Pumpkin & Espresso have never been so good
OK I know Thanksgiving is just a few days away, but I have one more pumpkin recipe that is a MUST MAKE. This bundt cake will be a perfect addition to your Thanksgiving week. Pumpkin, please I love pumpkin anything and everything, and I can eat pumpkin anytime, especially this bundt cake. The pumpkin makes the bundt cake super moist without making it heavy and then with the addition of the pumpkin pie spice gives it just the right amount of warmth in each bite. If you didn’t want to use the pumpkin pie spice you could use just cinnamon, making it a little more year round friendly. Yes you read…

The Star of the Table
let’s talk TURKEY When we first started talking about this Early Thanksgiving Dinner my brother said he wanted to smoke the turkey. I was thrilled…I couldn’t wait. He had smoked one last year for our family Thanksgiving and it was good, but he said he wanted to make it even better, and that he did. When all the RSVP’s came back we had 15 people coming, so to ensure we had enough turkey (I love the leftover turkey) I got a big ole’ turkey. It was right around a 20 pound bird. And let me tell you the turkey was so, so good there was not too much left over. To…

One Pan Harvest Dinner = Dinner TONIGHT
It is time to celebrate everything Fall & Harvest. Thanksgiving is a few weeks away, the weather is cooler, boots are a part of our everyday wardrobe, pumpkin spice is everywhere and sweaters are back in the rotation. This is hands down my most favorite time of year. Speaking of Pumpkin Spice Pumpkin spice is not just for your lattes or pumpkin bread…it is perfect on veggies and chicken. Yes I said veggies and chicken. I know that may not sound normal or even that good, but it really, really is so good. It adds a little something extra to make it perfect for Fall. It has just the perfect…
