Mom Dibert’s Corn Casserole
The sis-in-Law’s mom, Cathleen is an amazing cook. Everything I have had from her has been so, so good. She is very well known for her pies, but she is also known for this corn casserole. Bring on the corn When Cathleen said she wanted to bring this casserole to our Early Thanksgiving Pot Luck Dinner I was so excited. I personally LOVE corn casserole, and my brother had told me how good her was so I couldn’t wait to try it. A few days before though she told me she wasn’t sure if she could make it as they were having new floors installed and she didn’t…

Bourbon + Bacon this Thanksgiving
Every Thanksgiving there is always a sweet potato casserole of some kind. Last year I did a casserole that had a little something for everyone (recipe can be found here) but this year I wanted to take it to the next level. It all starts with Bacon In my family if you want to make everyone happy you can add bacon to it and everyone will LOVE it. I was hoping this little trick would work for sweet potatoes as well. You see there are a few people in my sweet family that are not sweet potato fans. This is proof that not all people are perfect, just kidding (not…

It has a veggie in it, so it’s healthy… right?
The life of a food blogger is fun no doubt, but when it comes to the Holidays it can get a little hard to come up with new recipes each year. And this is just the beginning of the yummies that showed up that day. Make sure and check back for all these other recipes that will be posted in the next few days. Coming Soon…. mashin’ up a sweet tater
A sweet tater (or potato if your not my dad) is God’s gift to the land of yummy starches…at least in my opinion. I just love the bit of sweet (or sometimes a lot of sweet) and the bright orange color and of course all the delicious dishes you can make with these little orange treats. OK, now I know some of you might be thinking that a sweet tater dish is for the holidays, like in this sweet potato casserole, or as a side to your burger in fry form…but trust me this mashed sweet potato recipe is a must make that will make everyone fall in love with sweet potatoes…

an unexpected sweet bundt treat
Now I know that when you think of Holiday desserts pumpkin is at the top of the list . As crazy as this might sound, my family are not big pumpkin lovers so we have always had several additional options besides the traditional pumpkin pie….one always being a bundt cake. We love the traditional bundts but we also love this chocolate, chocolate chip bundt cake for chocolate lovers. A new favorite is this butter bundt. It is lighter than a more dense cream cheese bundt cake but still super rich and full of butter love in each bite. When my brother and sis-in-law were down a month or so ago we had a big…

dreams are made of this new pumpkin love…
Obviously pumpkin is on everyone’s brain this week…and my brain is defiantly no exception. Really to be honest pumpkin is all I can think about…I just love pumpkin everything. Now the traditional pumpkin desserts are perfect for your Thanksgiving table but this year I wanted to change things up a bit and create a lighter dessert but with all the best it had to offer. The first layer is a delicious graham cracker crust, it is buttery and a little crunchy. Next there is a cheesecake layer that is light with the added whipped cream but still very rich. Next comes the pumpkin layer that is a wonderful pudding like layer loaded…

a little something sweet for (almost) everyone
A sweet potato casserole is a MUST HAVE on all of our Holiday tables. There is just something so wonderful about the rich, creamy and fluffy casserole that makes the Holiday’s something super special. In the past most of our casseroles have just had a brown sugar crumb topping because some of my family likes marshmallows and some like pecans and some like both and even a few that don’t like any so it was just easier to keep it minimal…well this year I decided to try and make (almost) everyone happy. I made a traditional sweet potato casserole loaded with brown sugar, butter, half & half and then topped with…

never order a ham again
Almost every Thanksgiving my brother-in-law will order a ham from that honey place, but this year I decided I wanted to tackle it on my own…I mean it surely couldn’t be that hard. First I had to decide if I wanted the it to be sweet, more spicy or fruity. After discussing it with The Hubby we decided a combo of sweet and spicy would be the way to go so off we went. Second we had to find the ham…off to the store we went. After looking at several of the hams piled up we decided on a 9 pound bone-in hickory smoked one. The name alone sounded yummy so anything…
