It’s more than just a gingerbread man
This past weekend I got to watch my niece and nephew for a night and making cookies was on the menu for sure. Not too long ago I was at World Market and found this great pack of sprinkles that had a little bit of everything from cinnamon dots to metallic sprinkles and everything in between. My little helper is the BEST EVER Anytime I can get my nephew or niece into the kitchen to help it is so much fun. Wes had made gingerbread cookies at school the previous week and he wanted to show me how to do it, so I got him right up on the counter…

a dressing like no other
Are you a stuffing or dressing person? Are you a cornbread or bread dressing person? We are cornbread people here. Well I am here to tell you I have another option for all my die hard cornbread dressing friends. Trust me it is AMAZING! An apple a day… The old saying goes “an apple a day will keep the Dr away”. This delicious side may not keep the Dr away but it will make you feel VERY good. If you would have asked me a month ago if I would put apple in my dressing I would have said NO WAY, but it has changed. Our sweet friend Andrea said she wanted…

I could eat these everyday
I think if I could only eat one thing for the rest if my life it might just be mashed potatoes. I LOVE THEM that much, especially this new mashed potato recipe. Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. They are loaded with tons a flavor, they are rich and creamy. It’s a family thing My MeeMaw LOVED mashed potatoes. I mean she LOVED, LOVED them. She loved them so much she always said she wanted to be buried in them. She was not buried in them, but she did really love them. Her mashed potatoes were very classic with a little sour cream added in for a little extra something, and now I have taken…

Make sure and keep check back this week for additional recipes from our Early Thanksgiving Pot Luck Dinner. Still to come… A family tradition For every family get together at my grandparents, holiday or not, my MeeMaw would always have creamed corn on the table. She would make big batches of it and then freeze into serving size portions. It was always so rich and creamy with the perfect hint of sweet in each bite. I have…

a “healthy” mash
Mashed potatoes are a must have at all of our Thanksgiving celebrations and our Pot Luck Thanksgiving was no exception, but these have a little twist that surprised everyone. Make sure and check back often to get these recipes very soon… Pot Luck Fun One of the best parts of a Pot Luck dinner is never really knowing what is going to be coming through the door. And while this is a Thanksgiving Pot Luck I did have a pretty good idea of what to expect my Sis-in-Law really surprised me. She said she was bringing the mashed potatoes and I LOVE mashed potatoes so I was super excited. Only she told me…

It has a veggie in it, so it’s healthy… right?
The life of a food blogger is fun no doubt, but when it comes to the Holidays it can get a little hard to come up with new recipes each year. So this year I decided to have a Friends and Family Early Thanksgiving Pot Luck Dinner and have everyone bring their favorite dish. And this is just the beginning of the yummies that showed up that day. Make sure and check back for all these other recipes that will be posted in the next few days. Coming Soon…. For The Hubby When you ask The Hubby what he wants on the Thanksgiving table his first response is broccoli and…

cocoa a new way
I still can’t believe Christmas is later this week. I don’t know about you but I still have a ton to do and one of the things on my list is to make this fudge one more time. There is just something so special about fudge around the Holidays…and especially this cocoa inspired version. Growing-up we always had tons of treats around our house especially sweet treats, especially FUDGE! This fudge is so easy to make and it is so cute it is perfect for this Holiday season. To start with the bottom layer is a rich dark chocolate layer topped with a white chocolate fudge layer and then to make it…

a little snowball fun
No matter where you live you can have snowball fun…even with no snow. Growing up in Southeast Texas it is rare (like never) that we have enough snow to make a snowball…so this year I decided to make my own snowballs…COOKIES that is. These cookies have been a favorite of my mom’s for years but I had never made them until just recently. I was getting ready for my annual gift baskets and I knew I wanted a cookie that light & buttery with nuts and these immediately came to mind. To make them perfect I decided to search through some of my grandmother’s old cookbooks and came across…

Gluten Free has never been so fun
Chocolate is a must have in my house at all times. I usually have a chocolate bar, a brownie, peanut butter cup or a cookie to satisfy my daily chocolate need. For brownies and cookies the fudgier and richer the better for me. My sea salt caramel brownies are super fudgy but finding a cookie to meet that criteria has been difficult, and I never imagined a gluten free option would give me the perfect chocolate cookie…but I am so glad it did. I have been making gift baskets and I wanted to have a gluten free option in each basket and so I went on the hunt for a…
