A little creamy, a little spicy and a little yum

horseradish sauce-hThe Holidays are here and whether you are still thinking about your Christmas dinner or you are planning for your big New Year’s celebration this creamy horseradish sauce is a perfect addition for all your favorite beef dishes.

For an early Christmas I made this Peppercorn Crusted Beef Tenderloin and this sauce was a must have with it.  There is just something so special about a rich horseradish sauce with a piece of tender beef and this sauce is perfection.  When I decided to make the beef tenderloin I started thinking about horseradish sauce and thought I would just buy store bought and then I decided I wanted to learn how to make one that I loved.  I find that sometimes the store bough horseradish sauces are too spicy, or too creamy or not thick enough…so it was time to make one we would all love.

To start with I combined prepared horseradish with mayo and sour cream and then a little worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper and it was perfect.  I prefer the combo of sour cream and mayo as it adds creaminess and a little tartness to the sauce and when combined with everything else it becomes so, so good.  It is important to let the sauce sit in the fridge for at least a hour before serving to let the flavors meld together, but overnight is even better.

If you wanted you can definitely play around with he flavors a little such as adding in some garlic, soy sauce or fresh horseradish for an added kick.  Make it perfect for you and your family.

This creamy sauce will make a perfect side to your favorite holiday meal.
