A sweet treat to welcome 2018

New Years Eve is here and 2018 is a mere few hours away…I still can’t believe it.  In my family we have a few New Years traditions such as eating black eyed peas and watching the Rose Bowl Parade.  One other tradition is something sweet to snack on and these brownies are the perfect sweet treat.

All from scratch…& so worth it

Don’t get me wrong I love a good boxed brownie mix but when I can I love to make brownies from scratch.  Ok, Ok I know you are probably shaking your head and thinking I am crazy, but trust me it is worth it.

First everything is all made in one saucepan.  I love it when everything can be done in one pan, less clean-up makes me happy.

Second, you can customize this recipe to make it perfect for you and your family.  You can sue bittersweet chocolate, dark chocolate or milk chocolate…even better use a combo of your favorites.

Last, you can use any candy you want.  I went with chocolate covered caramel from Trader Joes (they are so good) but you could use plain caramel candies or even snickers or rolos if you wanted.  I just love the hint of caramel in each bite, so I do recommend a caramel candy of some sort.

Super Fudgy = The BEST Brownie

I am all about a fudgy brownie vs a cake brownie.  There is just something so decadent and fun about a brownie that leaves a little bit of chocolate on your fingers as you eat it.  It takes me back to when I was a kid, or when I made these brownies, and I lick the bowl.

My niece and nephew also LOVED these brownies.  As you can see below my niece really enjoyed them.  She may have had more than a few, especially once she figured out to reach them on the bar.  Before we knew it she had 3 or 4 (as best we can guess).

Anytime I can put that sweet smile on her face, makes me a REALLY happy Aunt.

Get to Baking…
