bringing some fireworks to the dinner table
Chicken is a staple on my dinner menu. It is quick, easy and lean…but sometimes it can be kinda boring…that is until now. Firecracker Chicken is the perfect dinner option for tonight.
One pan (& a bowl)…done
Not only is this chicken super yummy, but it is also super easy. All you need is a bowl to whisk the sauce together and then an oven safe skillet and voila your done.
I don’t know about you but that makes me a happy girl.
A spicy as you want
Being that the name is Firecracker Chicken there is a bit of heat in this chicken dish, but you can make it as spicy (or not as you want). The heat can come from the seasoning you use and also the hot sauce you add to the sauce.
To eliminate the heat all together you can use salt & pepper to season the chicken with and then leave out the hot sauce all together. If doing that I would add in a little balsamic vinegar to give the sauce a little more balance as the brown sugar does make it really sweet without the heat.
To add some extra heat to it you can use a chili powder based seasoning and then some extra hot sauce or a second hot sauce of your choice such as buffalo sauce or chipotle sauce.
THE SAUCE…
In my opinion the sauce is everything. I made sure to have some bread on hand to get every last bit of sauce off my plate. It was either bread or licking the plate, I thought bread was the better option but you do whatever you want…I won’t judge you.
This sauce would also be great on fish, pasta or pork. To fix it just combine all the ingredients in a sauce pan and let it come to a boil and then reduce to a simmer, letting it reduce and thicken.
IT IS SO GOOD!
