• grilling fun all summer long

One of my favorite things about summer is grilling.  I will grill pretty much anything in the summer…I mean it.  This summer we have already grilled burger, steaks, veggies, peaches and even bread…yes I said bread.    Trust me grilled bread is AMAZING!!  Even better than grilled bread is this Grilled Pork. Quick & Easy  Not only is this pork delicious but it is also CRAZY easy.  So easy it is only 3 ingredients.  Yes only 3 ingredients.  All you need is the pork tenderloins, olive oil and course seasoning salt.  Thats it and then onto the grill it goes. Before you know it you have dinner done. It is…

  • Ribs by James…

My brother James and my mom are HUGE fans of ribs.  Anytime we go eat at any of our local BBQ joints (which we have several of here in Texas) they always order ribs.  Me, I am more of a brisket and sausage gal, but that is for another day and another recipe.   It is RIB time OK… now back to the ribs…being that my brother loves ribs & he loves to grill and smoke things he took it upon himself to make the best ribs ever…and I will admit they are really, really good. He experimented with several variations of this recipe but finally found the perfect combo of…

  • no oven space needed for this ham

Easter is this weekend and that means it is time to start planning the menu and trust me this ham is a must have for your Easter get together.  I don’t know about your family but Easter always mean ham to us.  We used to buy it from that Honey Baked place and it was crusted with this delicious sweet crust and as delicious, but also expensive so this Easter I decided to try to fix one myself. No oven needed There are tons of ways to fix a ham.  Some recipes call for maple syrup, some for pineapple slices, or pineapple juice, while other just have a spice rub…for me I…

  • It’s time for a BBQ

As I have mentioned before we grill a lot around here.  If it were up to me we would grill every meal in the summer, but I will settle for several in a week. For Friends and Family When The Hubby and I entertain the grill is normally on and many times you can find pork being grilled,  (like this teriyaki version).  Pork is perfect for grilling, it is quick and very versatile.  It is always so fun to get everyone around the grill while enjoying a drink (or two) while enjoying the wonderful aroma only a grill can give. The Hubby and I also enjoy grilling for just the two…

  • maple loving good

Pork chops are a go to dinner for The Hubby and I.  I just love how versatile it is and how EASY it is to prepare. The other white meat… Those commercials always made me laugh so hard.  This one still makes me laugh…I don’t know that I have ever danced in excitement over pork…but these people do!  I will say though after having these pork chops, I might have done a little booty shake out of shear enjoyment…I’m just saying maybe I did. I LOVE versatility One of the best things about pork is it’s versatility.  You can grill them, roast them, marinate them, dry rub them, top with sauces, eat…

  • at home pork that is so, so good

I don’t know about you but one of the hardest things to eat out, when you are trying to eat good, is Chinese food.  It can be loaded with tons of sodium, hidden calories and fat all the while being bathed in delicious sauces that make you want to keep eating.  The Hubby loves chinese food so I have been on a mission to find some lighter options, that can be made quickly but still with all of his favorite flavors…trust me this has been a challenge for sure.  I have had some success in the past…I made this skinny stir fry that The Hubby loved but he kept asking me…

  • ham, ham, beans & more ham…

Easter has come and gone, and if your refrigerator looks anything like mine it loaded with tons of leftovers.  I have some au gratin potatoes, green bean casserole, pistachio fluff and of course ham…tons & tons of ham…so why not add some beans to the mix?   It never fails, you think you buy a ham that is the perfect size for all the peeps you have coming, where most of it will be eaten and there won’t be half a ham in your fridge the next day…but it always seems to happen.  Every year I say I am going to buy a smaller ham (and I did this year)…

  • get up & smell the bacon

Spring Break is here and that means it is time to relax, have fun and EAT…& I say lets eat some bacon!! There is just something so indulgent about bacon that makes you feel like your doing something a little naughty…and trust me this sweet & spicy version is a keeper for sure!!   In my house plain bacon is special… but this version takes it to a whole new level. The trick to this bacon is baking it…do you normally bake it?  I started baking mine a while ago…not only does it make perfectly crisp, but still tender & it is so much LESS messy.  There is no bacon grease spattering…

  • takin’ it slow with pork chops

Happy Monday and Happy (day after) Valentines Day.  I hope your weekend was something to remember.  We had a busy one here in…my uncle came in for my Mammaw’s 89th birthday, we had a birthday party for her (recipes from the party will be coming soon), we played her favorite marble game and then yesterday The Hubby treated me to a special dinner and then a little chocolate treat after…it was truly a special weekend that we will treasure for a long, long time. Now that all the fun is over (at least for now) it is time to start getting back on track and this slow cooker pork chop…

  • never order a ham again

Almost every Thanksgiving my brother-in-law will order a ham from that honey place, but this year I decided I wanted to tackle it on my own…I mean it surely couldn’t be that hard. First I had to decide if I wanted the it to be sweet, more spicy or fruity.  After discussing it with The Hubby we decided a combo of sweet and spicy would be the way to go so off we went.  Second we had to find the ham…off to the store we went.  After looking at several of the hams piled up we decided on a 9 pound bone-in hickory smoked one.  The name alone sounded yummy so anything…
