throwin’ a hissy fit for this dip…
The weekend is almost here & we are springing forward (ok thats not fun) but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have get together with friends and family…right? I have had a rough couple of weeks and a nice little get together is just what the Dr. ordered and this Skinn(ier) Hissy Fit Dip is a must have.
If you have spent anytime on Pinterest you have probably seen several posts for this cheesy dip that is loaded with tons of flavor and yummy goodness! I mean lets be real anything with cheese, sausage, cream cheese and sour cream has to be good and this dip is not only good it is AMAZING. I love the combo of everything together. The cream cheese & velveeta make it super creamy while the havarti makes it ooey gooey and then you add in some sour cream, spices & sausage to make it perfect. There is one tiny problem though…it is a little high in the calories, fat & points department, but don’t worry with a few changes you get a lightened-up version without losing any of the flavor, richness or creaminess.
To start the lightning-up I used reduced fat cream cheese & sour cream. FYI…you can use these reduced fat versions in almost every recipe that calls for the full fat version, and no one will know the difference. Next I used 2% velveeta cheese, I actually prefer this version as it melts even better than the original version in my opinion and has the same flavor. I did use the traditional pork sausage, I just love the flavor and texture it brings to this dip, and then just a touch of havarti. Havarti is a must have in this dip. It is super cheesy and when it melts it makes a great dip…plus it is just so yummy!
