BBQ pork in the winter (no grill needed)
As the weather cools down using your gill outside is not so easy but don’t worry you can still have your favorite BBQ all made inside and even better it is made in your slow cooker!
Break out a freezer favorite!
So pork tenderloin is something I always have in my freezer. It thaws quickly, it cooks quickly and you can do almost anything to it and it takes great! Just last week I made this roasted pork tenderloin with root veggies that is a great Fall inspired dish and it is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner…but there is just something about a BBQ pork sandwich that transports me back to backyard BBQ’s and warm weather.
Low and Slow
The beauty of the this slow cooker recipe is you can use it with pork tenderloin, pork butt or even chicken breasts or thighs, just adjust cooking times as needed….but you can also adjust the seasonings to be exactly what you prefer. You can add some additional heat, or make it super mild. You can make it sweeter, tangier or more smoky…it really is all up to you.
Surprise!!
As a little surprise this time I added in some grape jelly. Ok now I know you might be questioning my thinking right now, but trust me it is a welcome addition. It adds a sweet note but also a bit of a tang as it cooks down and combines with all the other flavors. If you don’t have grape jelly on hand, you could also use apricot or peach, it will be a little more fruity but definitely delicious.

Serve it up!!
I served this pulled pork on toasted buns but it would be great with baked potatoes, on a salad or even on its own…I am craving it right now.
