• a little love in the morning

This week is all about love, with it being Valentines Day week and all.  To show a little extra love I am going to be making a favorite, my Brioche French Toast. Making the morning special One of my favorite things to get for breakfast or brunch is french toast.  Anytime there is  Brioche French Toast on the menu I am ordering it.   There is just something so yummy about thick cut bread dipped in a delicious egg mixture and then grilled to perfection. Every time I fix this for The Hubby he always says he feels like we have gone out for brunch in our PJ’s.  Now that is a…

  • start your day with a berry good treat

I love the idea of smoothies.  They are loaded with good for your stuff, you can drink them, and they are quick to make which is perfect for those super busy mornings.  There is just one problem I have with most smoothies…I HATE bananas! A smoothie without a banana can be hard to find Do you go to those smoothie places and get creative with your smoothies….well that has always been a challenge for me.  Most of them have bananas in them, and I cannot eat banana any way, any how. So I know that sounds a little wacky, really who doesn’t like bananas…well that would be me.  This is…

  • Gravy, please

When you ask The Hubby what he wants for breakfast his typical answer usually is biscuits and gravy.  Now his new favorite biscuits are these butter biscuits and his favorite gravy is this sausage gravy…so I bring you The Hubby’s Dream Breakfast. Don’t be afraid of gravy (like I used to be)… So when I first started cooking there were 2 things that I just couldn’t get the hang of…gravy and crust.  Now I know some of you are probably laughing and shaking your head and trust me I did as well.  I would ask myself why I couldn’t get these simple recipes down each time I would try to…

Is there anything better than homemade jam?  I don’t know about you but I love me some homemade jam, but I never thought I could make my own without a whole lot of time and trouble…well I am here to change your mind…we are going to be making jam in the oven. OK…now I know some of you might be thinking I am a little crazy.  First I am talking about making jam, and second I am talking about making jam in the oven…yes both are true. So jam in the oven, really?  That is what I thought when I first saw the recipe.  I couldn’t understand how that would…

  • it’s biscuit time

If it were up to The Hubby it would always be biscuit time.  I honestly think he would have biscuits at every meal if I made them…unfortunately for him I rarely make them so when I do it is quite the BIG DEAL! I decided a while ago that since The Hubby loves them so much maybe it should become his job to make them. I mean he could make the biscuits when I was making dinner or the gravy (if it were breakfast…or dinner…WOW I really want gravy now). Anyway back to the biscuits…I was showing The Hubby several recipes I have gathered over the years and he settled…

I first came across bacon turned into jam at a local hamburger place.  They were putting it on their burgers instead of slices of bacon.  Now I was a little nervous when I ordered by first bacon jam burger…but all that went away after my first delicious bite.  The jam brings…
