Over the years I have come to the conclusion that you are either a fan of green bean casserole or you are not…it’s really that simple. I have always landed on the not a fan side of this debate but my brother, James, is a HUGE green bean casserole fan and asks for it every holiday…but this year it was time to take it to the next level.
Most of the time my sis-in-laws mom will make it for him, but for Easter I decided to take on his request but to make it in a way that I (and the other non-lovers) would love as well.
To make the casserole super yummy I used fresh green beans, homemade cream of chicken soup (recipe can be found here) and BACON. Yes you read that right, I added bacon to this otherwise traditional green bean casserole. The bacon added a great hint of smokiness and bacon-y goodness that just makes it so, so good. Then of course I topped it with those delicious french fried onions which made this casserole perfect.

If you wanted to use canned green beans that would work as well, and you could also use canned cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup…but trust me if you try the homemade version you will never use canned again.
Never make the same ‘ole green bean casserole again…this amped up version is the BEST ever and will be a perfect addition to all your Holiday tables or family dinners!
