Spring Break is here and that means it is time to relax, have fun and EAT…& I say lets eat some bacon!! There is just something so indulgent about bacon that makes you feel like your doing something a little naughty…and trust me this sweet & spicy version is a keeper for sure!!
In my house plain bacon is special…The Hubby and I are both big fans but this version takes it to a whole new level.
The trick to this bacon is baking it…do you normally bake it? I started baking mine a while ago…not only does it make perfectly crisp, but still tender & it is so much LESS messy. There is no bacon grease spattering up to burn you and you can let it bake while you work on something else such as eggs or gravy, making breakfast a breeze and so YUMMY!
For this recipe I sprinkled it with a spice combo that is a little sweet with a little heat making for a perfect piece of bacon. I love how the brown sugar caramelizes on the edges giving you a little sticky bite paired with a little heat that will make your tastebuds do a dance.
Line a rimmed baking sheet with several layers of foil, and place a cooling rack on the foil
Lay bacon in a single layer on the rack
In a small bowl combine brown sugar, chili powder, sea salt, pepper & garlic powder
Evenly sprinkle over bacon
Place bacon into oven and bake for 20 minutes or until bacon is cooked to your desired doneness
Remove from oven
Serve & ENJOY!

The Hubby always gets excited when I make him this little treat, not only does he love it for breakfast but he also loves to make a sandwich with it later on…he swears there is nothing better than this bacon on white bread (I know, I know) and some american cheese (c’mon he is a boy). You could also use it in your favorite pasta dish or chicken dish, that is if you have some left after breakfast.
Celebrate Spring Break or just it being morning with this sweet & spicy treat…trust me it will make any day feel like a holiday!
